If i skateboard and snowboard, will I be good at surfing?
I am very good at skateboarding and snowboarding. I have been skating for about 8 years and snowboarding for 2 years. Would it be fairly easy to ride if I have a snowboard and skateboard background?
Surf and those other sports boards are "apples and oranges." The ability to balance and skateboarding or snowboarding is certainly a more in the surf, but hardly the most important asset. Before you even think about surfing, there are certain things you should understand. Surfing is a sport ocean which should be practiced by people who are already competent ocean swimmers. Swimming in a pool is clean, but not swimming in the ocean with the surf, rip tides and sometimes big waves. I saw many great swimmers pool to save himself. So my first advice on how to surf is to be comfortable in the ocean. There are too many dangerous people in the water now. They are a danger to themselves and other users, not join their ranks. The lessons are the best way to start. The lessons can come from a professional instructor, or family members or surf experienced surfing friends. You have to learn surf etiquette (for surfers in the line up do not want to drown), paddling and off on a wave, and how to surf a wave. The last thing the surfers want is for inexperienced people to buy a board, rushing into the waves and get in our way. Lessons to shorten the learning curve significantly. And they help to maintain ignorance, not Prepared kooks out of the water and the road more .. experienced surfers If you already have the skills swimming in ocean, and are a good skater, you will probably learn faster than most. But you must understand that standing wave occupies the smallest amount time you spend surfing. The majority of your time is spent paddling (sometimes by BIG surf), and paddling to catch waves .. You do not have to paddling on the hill to go snowboarding on the right. Surfing is a sport complementary ideal for skating and snowboarding. So why not develop the powers of the water, take surfing lessons and we'll see you in the line up. I have been surfing since 1966 and has been a life of fun for me. It may be for you, so if you take the time to learn the right way.
