Traveling alone in Canada?
19 years old female from New Zealand. I love nature, and small towns ... Is it possible to stay with a Canadian family for a week in exchange for a job? I really want to go somewhere with lots of snow! (Just to play, not really ski / Snowboard) I want to go to Newfoundland, Quebec and Nova Scotia. I am interested in Native American culture and wildlife. I traveled Only last year in Paris, France and London, United Kingdom. Is it safe for me to travel alone? What places should I avoid one? What are the things I could see / do?
Nova Scotia is probably the most friendly and beautiful (my opinion) the place in Canada, a lot of history in Halifax (Halifax explosion, plane crash, in 1998 I believe) If you want a lot of snow in the Maritimes is perfect, theres also the snow belt in Ontario (north of Toronto) I do not know much about Quebec, but they have always wanted to break from Canada. Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and Wye Marsh (they are right next the other) are on the first colony of either English or French living with the Indians (sorry long time since I was there last) and wildlife (posted links for you), I think you should be safe, everyone wants to know because you have an accent (believe me) they'll want to know a lot about New Zealand, they will think that your Australian:) Avoid the bad parts of cities, they are fairly easy to recognize, especially at night, the guns are prohibitted in Canada, but that does not mean there are not any around, people will say you have been to avoid if they are well known to the city, I think you should try skiing or snowboarding, the same tube. I know there are ski slopes in New Zealand but they are probably not the same thing (I do not know really, I'm just guessing from pictures I've seen) the only think I really do not have you stay, you could probably stay in a hotel or a hostel for a week with being too expensive. The Holiday Inn Express is a nice hotel (they are all across Canada), you can try wwoofing, I know it sounds funny, but look at the question (I'll post a link) I hope I helped a bit, Have Fun:)
